AWI wins a major order for its AV3000 NX Next Generation Telematics unit. Thousands of units are to be deployed for a major Telecom Company by mid of 2010.
The 5th generation product was developed and manufactured in Canada. The AV3000 NX and the web based fleet management software, Amtrak, will be used to make productivity gains and decrease fleet costs through reduced idling, speeding and total mileage driven.

AV3000 NX received certification from Bell Mobility to provide telematic services over its network on December 11th, 2009. The device with its new Q26 Elite modem from Sierra Wireless/Wavecom will be used for CDMA services.
AWI chose this modem as it has the same footprint and interface as the other modems in the Q26 family. “This will make the transition to the HSPA network smooth for all our customers”, said Elgin McMillan, VP Technology, at AWI.

StopIdle generates customer interests with Purchase Orders from the Ontario Ministry of Transport, Toronto Transit, and the City of Toronto.
AWI made its first sales of the revolutionary new product that eliminates idling in Parked vehicles thereby reducing fuel usage and cutting down on green house emissions. IdleStop is an intelligent device that monitors battery power usage in vehicles and intelligently shuts down and restarts engines without manual intervention.

AWI selects OEM vendor for its next generation telematic devices.
After an extensive evaluation and field testing period, AWI has selected a Canadian Engineering Company to develop and produce the next generation of telematic devices. The new device, AV 3000 NX is the 5th in a line of telematic devices developed by AWI dating back to the early part of the decade.
The AV 3000 NX supports CAN and non-CAN vehicles, provides accurate odometer readings and fuel usage. It’s small size facilitates mounting under the dashboard to prevent inadvertent disconnects or tampering. The AV 3000 NX has been fully integrated into Autovision and Amtrak graphical reporting system.

This world class facility, with 24 hour access, built-in redundancy for power and high speed Ethernet access reinforces AWI’s commitment to providing near 100% availability. The facility houses AWI’s real-time telematic services and fleet management services.
Our VP Network Engineering said, “with this major move, that had been in the planning stage for much of 2008, completed, we continue to make our network more reliable and able to recover from any disaster without affecting customer traffic. The work to design and build our back up and test facility at our head quarters in Toronto can now begin. In addition to creating a robust network, the new production and backup facilities dramatically cut down on our power requirements. Through the use of virtualization technology, we have reduced our utility costs and decreased our carbon footprint”.

AutoVision launches Amtrak - graphical reports to enhance data visibility and facilitate decision making for its customers. New reports include Idling, Fleet Utilization, After Hours Usage and Stop & Go.
After several focus groups and iterations encompassing customer feedback, AWI launched Amtrak - a graphical web based reporting system that provides, at a glance, excessive idling, after-hours vehicle usage, Start/Stop and fleet utilization.

AWI wins Orders for 1,800 TelePod terminals and accessories in fourth quarter of 2008!
As a result of continued Sales efforts, two major North American Telecom Companies have awarded AWI with contracts for the supply of telematic units and accessories to be installed in their new vehicles starting early 2009. AWI will be providing bundled airtime and telematic services once the new vehicles have been up-fitted. The Telecom Companies will be using AWI’s newly created online graphical reports to improve efficiencies of their fleets.
